The ear has 3 parts: the outer ear, the middle, and the inner ear. These inner ear infections are the most serious. The inner part of the ear contains the Eustachian tube and the nerves. After the sound is carried through the outer and middle ear, it is received by the inner ear. The nerves transfer the information to the brain where it is processed and we recognize the sound.

Salt is easily available in most homes. Heat up a cup of salt on low heat for just a few minutes. Place the salt in a clean and soft piece of cloth. You can then lie down and place the cloth while holding the ends tightly onto your ear. Ensure the heat is manageable. This will draw out the fluid in the ear and reduce swelling.

Basil is known to have some of the best natural antibacterial properties known to man. You can crush a few leaves gently to release the juice. Place the juice around and on the infected ear. DO not let the juice trickle down the ear canal.

Tea tree oil

One of the most therapeutic oils in nature. The oil has antibacterial, anti-fungal and stimulating properties. You can use the oil to treat an inner ear infection by mixing it with some olive oil. Place a few drops of the tea tree oil in a tablespoon of olive oil. Use a clean medicine dropper to pour it into the ear canal. Tilt your head to allow the oil to soak in the ear. You can then tilt back to allow it to pour out.
